Whois Source:
Anyone who has ever tried to find just the right domain name for their new Website can relate to spending hours running queries against an internet "whois" database to see if a name is available or not. You plug in a name, press submit, and get the "Domain Name Unavailable" message over and over. Help is just a click away at "Whois Source", an Internet offering by Name Intelligence, Inc. What's different about Whois Source is that they've designed a system to make your life easier!
Rather than looking to see if the name is available and returning a "yes" or "no" answer, the site will tell you if the name is "registered and active", "registered and parked or redirected", "recently deleted", or that it has "never been registered". All that in just one simple query! The site is very intuitive. My advice is after you run your first query, take a second and memorize the result set color coding as described in the legend. Because of the visual information you can scan the results very quickly. The search engine is very powerful. After a couple of searches, most people feel very comfortable doing some pretty complex queries.
Overall, this is a valuable and time-saving website that belongs on your "favorites" list. Whenever I have a need to find a domain for a client, I now start here. The site is located at www.whois.sc
